Zotero not downloading pdf
Even then, I notice that clicking the icon in the URL field of Firefox does not result in the pdf downloading. Clicking the pdf link and selecting "Import into Zotero" on the resulting dialogue window does work though. The net result is that downloading citations with attached pdf's takes a lot more time. Any way Zotero developers could smooth the flow of pdf importation from PubMed would be greatly appreciated.
Zotero is not going to support searching without a browser. The reasons are mainly technical, but the answer is that it's not going to happen. Note that pdf import does work from PubMed Central, just not from Pubmed. I dont' think that will change anytime soon, I see no reasonable way of making that work. For example, importing an item from the publisher website will generally yield much better data than importing from Google Scholar.
Zotero will generally choose the best translator available for each site automatically. You can choose an alternative translator by right-clicking on the Zotero save button click-and-hold in Safari and choosing one of the supplied options. If a website isn't importing properly, please report it on the Zotero Forums and provide the webpage URL.
To add a PDF or any other file from your computer, simply drag it to Zotero — you can drag to an existing item to attach the file or drag between items to store as an independent item. Zotero will automatically attempt to retrieve bibliographic metadata for PDFs , though in some cases this may yield lower quality metadata than importing using the Save to Zotero button on the article page from your browser.
If Zotero isn't able to retrieve high-quality metadata for a PDF, you'll be left with just an attachment item. Items and PDFs can be imported faster by using the Zotero Connector plugin in your browser from the article pages not the PDFs of publisher websites or most scholarly databases. This saves several steps versus downloading the PDF manually and adding it to Zotero. Thinking this may be a connector issue, so re-downloaded connector, still not working.
